To really catch you up I'll give you some big hits of the year so far.
1) We were team teaching and I was only teaching Math. WELL, one of my partners decided to leave us in September so we used up her 30 days notice to switch back to self-contained classrooms. This has been sort of a blessing. I LOVE my class and firmly believe I have the best 5th grade class. (sorry, not sorry shouldn't we all think that? hehe) The downfall is now teaching everything and keeping organized is really hard for me.
2) I'm a part of the Team Leadership committee as the 5th grade team lead. Being a part of that meant I got to be a part of Education Elements mini conferences we've had at the school. I have been beyond BLESSED to learn about Personalized Learning. I know it's nothing new but because our entire school is one-to-one IPADS it will work so well with our demographic. I have been focused on the flex model learning for my kids. I will write a new post on it shortly but I have literally only been doing it for a week and a half and my kids are responding so well! I have done a couple what do you think post-it exit slips with my kids and they have been very responsive!
Here is my general basis for Flex-Based Learning. This works for both Math and Reading. |
There are some big things coming in the New Year for my school and my classroom and I cannot wait until my students soar!
